Getting to know Somalia - ICT circumstances narrated by the former Minister of Communications, imminent challenge of famine and the future of Somalia -
Engaging discussion was held regarding Somalia's ICT circumstances, imminent challenge surrounding the drought and famine of Somalia, as well as the future of Somalia. Guiding the discussion while engaging various other perspectives from the participants was Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim, the former Minister of Communication for the Somali government, who has been working hard to revitalize Somalia, inspiring questions around the future Somalian prospects for business through the ICT field.
On the day of the event, a talk was guided by the former Minister regarding the current and future state of Somalia including how the ICT field can be best utilized to address some of the country’s issues.
Eager attendance was from both the private and public sectors including Japanese government officials, those from the IT industry, and other companies whose businesses are related to Africa. The event turnout was a meaningful one where participants were very inquisitive, engaging and raising questions regarding the Somali government's idea on ICT, inspiring discussion for more concrete future business development plans.
